Why Your Real Estate Website Isn't Ranking (And How to Fix It)

By Josh

Most real estate websites rank for nothing. Here's why: they have zero original content, no backlinks, and they're running the same IDX widget as 10,000 other agents.

What actually works:

Local content wins. Write about your neighborhoods. Not "Downey is a great place to live" fluff. Write about specific streets, school ratings, new developments, market data. Google rewards specificity.

Backlinks from local sources. Get featured in local news, partner with local businesses, sponsor community events and get linked from their sites. One link from the Downey Patriot is worth more than 100 directory submissions.

Embed your videos. YouTube is the second largest search engine. If you have video content, embed it on your site. Google indexes the video, the page gets richer, and visitors stay longer. All of that signals authority.

Blog consistently. One post per week on a local topic. That's 52 pages of indexed content per year. Each one is a new entry point for someone searching "homes for sale in [your area]."

SEO is a long game but it compounds. Start now.
